Important Information About Your Water Service Line

In 2023, you may remember receiving a survey from the City of Oxford asking about the type of water pipes serving your home. This survey was part of a Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) requirement to help identify the materials used in water service lines and determine where lead or other potentially concerning materials may be present.

Some surveys were returned with the service line material marked as “unknown,” while some households did not complete the survey. When the material of a service line cannot be confirmed, KDHE requires the City to provide those households with information about the potential for lead in their water service line.

Receiving this information does not mean that lead has been found in your home or that your drinking water is contaminated. It simply means that the material of the service line could not be confirmed through the information available to the City.

The City of Oxford will be resending the KDHE informational pamphlet to households with an unknown service line. We will also be resending the service line survey in November so residents have another opportunity to provide information about the type of piping serving their home. We ask that you complete and return the survey if you receive one, as this information helps the City maintain accurate records and meet KDHE requirements.

The pamphlet provides additional information about lead in drinking water and ways residents can reduce potential exposure.
