The Wellington Humane Society Serving Sumner County, KS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and adopting out homeless dogs and cats into loving, responsible forever homes.  We operate solely on donations and rely on many volunteer staff to serve the needs of homeless animals in our community.

We work diligently to treat, heal, and work with animals to be able to find safe and quality homes in our community. We offer many services to the communities in Sumner County such as dog boarding, free/low cost vaccination clinics, microchipping, dog baths/nail trims, volunteer opportunities, and education programs both at schools and at the facility. We educate and offer programs to reduce the animal population in our community such as the public spay/neuter and the trap neuter release (TNR) programs.

The Wellington Humane Society has partnered with Oxford resident Cassi, who has been trapping feral/neighborhood cats and getting them fixed through our TNR program. These cats are fixed and given a Rabies and FVRCP vaccination. All cats are also given an ear tip, which is the universal sign that the cat has been fixed. Ear tips are given while under anesthesia so the cats do not feel anything. This makes it easy to identify which cats have already been fixed so they can be released if caught in the trap.

In order to continue to make a difference for not only the cats but the citizens in Oxford, donations are being accepted to help cover the cost of surgery. Each cat cost $50 (which includes the vaccinations and ear tip listed above). Cassi has graciously volunteered to trap and transport these cats to the Wellington Humane Society to get fixed but she needs your help! Any donation amount can make a difference! The Wellington Humane Society is tracking all donations and funds will be used specifically for Oxford cats.

Updates will be provided at each surgery date (held once a month). For more information about this program or how you can get involved, feel free to email us at info@wellingtonhumanesociety.org or call us at 620-440-4375.
