Power Outages

Oxford News

Not all squirrels are aerial acrobats, but the ones in town sure think they are! While most prefer to zip along the electric lines like they’re on a high-voltage roller coaster, sometimes they miscalculate and cause a power outage. Our utility crew is always on standby, ready to rescue us from our dark, squirrel-induced dilemmas.

Just a heads up: it’s a busy season as squirrels stockpile snacks for winter, so if you see a furry little daredevil using the power lines as their personal highway, don’t be surprised!

If the lights go out during office hours, call us at 620-455-2223. After hours, please call 911—just make sure to specify that it’s a nonemergency outage and not a squirrel-related heist!

Stay powered up and keep an eye out for those furry aerialists!

KDHE Notifications

Oxford News

Earlier this year the City of Oxford by direction of The State of Kansas sent out surveys to all the residents that have water service lines with the City of Oxford.  To stay in compliance with KDHE guidelines we are now sending out brochures based off the answers we recieved on those surveys.  If you recieve one of these brouchures they are just a information pamphlet and it DOES NOT mean that you have Lead exposure in your water.  The City of Oxford does do testing for lead and we have NEVER had a test come back positive for Lead.

Fire Works

Oxford News, Events

With 4th of July fast approaching here are some quick reminders around fireworks.  Per city code fireworks are only allowed within city limits July 1st-July 4th.  Those days fall during the week this year meaning, fireworks can only be discharged until 10pm.  If you need to report fireworks being discharged after 10pm please call 911 and report it as a non emergency.   Remember to stay safe while having fun this 4th of July!

Arbor Day 2024

Oxford News, Events

For Arbor Day, April 26, 2024, the City of Oxford hosted the 6th grade class for tree planting and pizza! The kids helped plant 2 new trees on the south loop of Napawalla Park.  They learned the proper way to plant a tree and then got to have Casey's Pizza for lunch! Thank you to everyone that helped make Arbor Day a success.
