Sumner St., Oxford, KS 67119 for the purpose of hearing and answering objections of taxpayers relating to the proposed use of all funds and the amount of ad valorem tax. Proposed Budget 2025 Expenditures and Amount of 2024 Ad Valorem Tax establish the maximum limits of the 2025 Budget. Estimated Tax Rate is subject to change depending on the final assessed valuation by Sumner County. Per city code fireworks are only allowed within city limits July 1st-July 4th. Those days fall during the week this year meaning, fireworks can only be discharged until 10pm. How it all began... Wednesday, January 17, 2024 History of Oxford Oxford’s history really began in 1869, when the Osage Indians camped near the large cottonwood ford which winds along the Ninnescah River and dumps into the Arkansas River. Chief Napawalla first gave Oxford its name. When the Treaty of 1870 was signed, the Osage Tribe moved from the area and left thousands of acres of the town “Napawalla” to be purchased by settlers.
